History

William Morris was born in Walthamstow, London, in 1834. From a young age, he displayed a keen interest in art and design, which eventually led him to study architecture at the University of Oxford. After graduating, Morris founded his own design firm, in 1861. The company quickly gained a reputation for its unique and intricate designs, which incorporated elements of nature and medieval art. Morris believed that art should be accessible to all, and he strived to create designs that were both beautiful and affordable.

During the Victorian era, middle-class individuals had a deep yearning for fabrics and wallpapers adorned with the elaborate and detailed block-printed floral patterns created by William Morris (24 March 1834 – 3 October 1896). As a result of this fervent desire, these products became incredibly popular and were in high demand among the society of that time, a demand that has only grown stronger in the present day.
